“Love you,

sister and brother!”

It was a warm, windy, and sunny afternoon. We drove to a town near Christchurch where Melanie and her family live, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Violet, their youngest daughter, was awaiting us at the end of the drive to lead us to their house.

Melanie introduced her twins to us, Nathan and Evelyn.

Nathan was helping with drying the dishes. Evelyn showed up a bit later, in a flowery summer dress.

We could immediately saw that as elder siblings, how much protective they were of their younger sister. That’s something we, as the only child, could never ask for and will be longing for for a life time.

We enjoyed seeing how they merrily played in the fun zone, picked up strawberries and blackberries in the garden, and shared caramel pie with each other.

We loved how strongly they were bonded.

We got emotional simply because they enjoyed each other’s companion.

“It’s so sad that we don’t have siblings.”

Nathan said without hesitation,

“We can be your siblings!”

We didn’t expect that they would suddenly appear at the drive to see us off when we left. They waved at us,

“Bye-bye, sister and brother. Love you, sister and brother!”

Our hearts were overflowing with happy tears. How blessed we are to become part of the memories of such kind and loving children.

Thank you, dear Evelyn, Nathan, and Violet.
